NAPLES, FL: Former Congressman Madison Cawthorn’s campaign for Florida’s 19th Congressional District received a massive boost this past Friday night as the Republican primary field begins to consolidate and local leaders signal their support for his return to Washington.
Johnny Fratto, a prominent Naples Republican and candidate in the primary to succeed U.S. Rep. Byron Donalds, officially suspended his campaign and threw his full weight behind Cawthorn in front of a packed event featuring Nick Shirley in Naples.
“In my opinion Madison crushed the rest of them. I loved how he dealt with them. That’s when I made my decision. There’s also something to be said for Madison’s voting record when he was in Congress, and something for calling out the establishment, which he did and that’s why he’s not in Congress anymore. Nowadays, if you aren’t making enemies, you aren’t doing anything right,” Fratto said.
“Johnny is a true patriot, an outstanding Floridian, and a friend who cares passionately about our state and country,” Cawthorn said. “We both agree that President Trump needs warriors in Washington who have experience fighting the swamp as quickly as possible. I’m grateful for his endorsement and look forward to consolidating the entire GOP primary field soon so we can get to work assisting President Trump on implementing the America First Agenda.”
Adding to this momentum, Naples Fire Commissioner Patrick Dearborn also officially endorsed Cawthorn at the event, signaling a shift among the region’s first responders toward the Cawthorn campaign. Dearborn’s support underscores Cawthorn’s commitment to public safety and his vow to provide first responder representation for Southwest Florida.
